Armin Fromm was born in Stuttgart and studied cello in Cologne with Boris Pergamenshikov, later becoming his teaching assistant. He won several competitions, such as the Tonger competition in Cologne and the Prague Spring competition. From 1988 to 1997 Armin Fromm taught a cello class at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. As soloist he has performed with the Orchestra of the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Mainz Chamber Orchestra, and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Zagreb. Armin Fromm is Principal Cellist of the Essener Philharmoniker and since 2006 has taught at the Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf. He is also a member of the Consortium Classicum.
